Lead Pastor & Staff
The leadership at Scottsdale Nazarene consists of our lead pastor, Matt, along with other staff, volunteers, and board members. Here are some of our key leaders:
I am the husband of one fantastic woman and the father of two superb daughters. I make really good pizza, tomato sauce, pot roast, pie, and Mexican food. Besides my culinary skills, I have a great interest in Theology and the Church. I have a BA from Ottawa University, an MDiv from Fuller Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry from Nazarene Theological Seminary.
A fourth generation Nazarene, I have been in vocational ministry since 1999. I have deep roots at Scottsdale Nazarene – Years ago my grandparents (Jack and Erva Verner) were active members, my parents (Bob and Jackie) were married here, and other family and friends have been important parts of Scottsdale First. It is an honor to be at a church with such a rich history!
Aimee brings years of experience to our children’s ministry. She teaches kindergarten and has been involved with kids and kids ministry for years.
(including Youth Ministry)
I am a Husband, Father, and a student. I enjoy music, food, and good stories. I also have a knack at laughing loud and frequently. I have a passion to love, serve, and build relationships. My wife Karen is my partner in ministry and has played a huge role in my life and the lives of the teens we serve. We have a son, Sullivan James, and a dog, Teller. I’m currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from ASU and Ordination through the Church of the Nazarene.
